40 Days--Progress!


Happy Wednesday!  I am one week into the 40 Bags in 40 Days Challenge & I am lovin' it!  Garbage bags are going out the door & my home {& life} is feeling simpler, cleaner, & fresher!

I do have to admit that it has been hard to get moving some days {like today when I really wanted to take a nap while Jett took his}, but that LIST is hanging on my fridge & keeps giving me the evil eye every time I pass by it.  So I traded in my pillow in for a Superwoman cape, & I plunged through TWO things on my list today!  Go me!


Here's what I have crossed off my list so far:
- Laundry Room {I got carried away & cleaned the whole thing from top to bottom! This counted
  for like 3 things on the list--woot woot!}
- Kitchen drawers
- Kitchen cabinets
- Organized cleaning supplies & bins


I like the idea of doing a little something everyday.  It helps me to keep my motivation & momentum up, & I find that it makes the task of "Spring Cleaning" feel a lot less daunting.

  1. Hi Holly! I made a list this year of things I want to clean up around my house. Thank you for that inspiration! Not a 40 bag 40 day list, but just starting in one room and do what I can each day to make progress on my list. Well, last week I washed my living room and dining room curtains. This week I dove into my laundry room/mud room. First let me say that I love my hubby with all my heart and he is the hardest working man I know. BUT, he HATES throwing things away! And I like things simplified, I'm finding this out now in my life. I've never been super organized by any means, but I like the idea of it. : ) Less is best in my eyes and much easier/less stressful for me. Well, when you're trying to declutter, it can be somewhat of a tug of war with a "collector", I guess you might call him that. He's one of those "I might need that one of these days" or "its valuable can't throw it away" type of guys. Well, this week I started in my laundry room cabinet drawers. Whew! That was work. My hubby had the biggest tangled web of cords you could imagine. So I untangled ALL of them, rolled them neatly, tied them with those plastic twisty ties, organized them into specific groups (computer, cell phone, telehpone, extension cords) then put each group into gallon size storage bags and replaced them into the drawer. MUCH, MUCH, MUCH neater and now when he NEEDS that computer cord (haha, probably never) it will be easly accessible in seconds instead of digging around here and there.

    I will probably be decluttering my house all spring and well into the summer(crazy how fast stuff accumulates, plus with three boys!) but I like so much the idea of Simplify, Simplify, Simplify. Plus, it just makes me feel good having a clean, organized home for my family. Keep posting your progress, it makes me want to keep trudging along! : )
