I saw this on Sarah's blog today & had to share it. It lines up exactly with the thoughts that have been buzzing around in my head & heart lately. It lines up with the kind of person I want to be; the kind of life I want to live. It reminds me to stay true to myself; that simple is okay--despite what this world has to say about it. It is a gentle reminder that the best things in life are free & that you can't put a price tag on contentment. I whole heartedly believe that a full, abundant, rich, & happy life come from living that of a simple one. I love simple.
Learn to like what doesn't cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people,
even though some of them may be different...
different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction of doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the songs of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around
the house and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of the rain
on the roof and windows,
and the gentle fall of snow on a winter's day.
Learn to keep your wants simple and
refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.

That's exactly what I think of this quote also...it reminds me of the kind of life I want to live.
